Lyrics

Inches away in the fifth dimension
There’s another human being
Flits in and out beyond comprehension
From a parallel cosmic brane.
She appears in an apparition
That is seldom, if ever seen,
From a skein of unexplained existence with a wormhole in between.
Wonderfully sublime celestial,
Extraordinary terrestrial.
So many times she has flipped me out with an act I can’t explain
I hear you ask now, what’s the dimension?
Well in science it’s called a brane, brane, brane, brane.
Wonderfully sublime celestial
Extraordinary terrestrial
Living an existence that’s tangential
Wonderfully sublime celestial.
I’m in love with a girl from the fifth dimension, a different world
A strobe, a shadow she’s projecting from another time, a different space.
Wonderfully sublime celestial
Extraordinary terrestrial
Living an existence that’s tangential
Wonderfully sublime celestial.
Notes
This borrows in musical style from the early funk of James Brown, with a psychedelic rock twist.

Dom Reynolds:
“The theme of this song is inspired by a book, Absolution Gap, written my cousin, the sci-fi writer, Alastair Reynolds. In his book, Absolution Gap. Al riffs on the idea of there existing another, fifth dimension, a parallel universe, in which aliens are seeking to find a portal into our own, with potentially disastrous consequences.

“I thought it would be amusing to play with the idea of the imaginary friend, with the sci-fi twist of having an alien girl-friend from a parallel universe. I named her Celestial.’
We made an amazing, ot-of-this-world video of this song, starring Kylie Earl, directed by Jennifer Lions and produced by Alistair Winter. (Click the video above)
